In pre-World War I England, Inspector Goole calls on the wealthy Birling family to investigate the death of a young girl.   Might they be implicated in what appears to be the suicide of a stranger? Will the Inspector's scrutiny penetrate the facade of their seemingly friendly and close-knit family? Is it possible, that even in the best of households, things are seldom what they seem?

It Should Be
Written and Directed By
Ted Herstand

It was everything
it should have been and funnier!.

This hilarious comedy made quite an impression with the audience. This is a warm tale set against the poverty of the 1930’s that highlights an indomitable matriarch who makes everything better, as it should be.

Translated from the French by American Poet Eric Blau and lyricist Mort Shuman, the show is a diverse blend of ballads, tangos, boleros, rock and classics.

Ran December 5, 2006 - January 6, 2007

Thank you for making this show our first smash hit of the season! Due to popular demand, we even extended the run an additional three performances.  This show was truly a magical evening of music and comedy, the kind of which you've come to expect from JET.

DON’T LET THE VOICES STOP!

As the Jewish Ensemble Theatre makes plans to embark on its 18th season, it is imperative that we all come together to ensure the survival of both our cultural arts and our collective voice.

We are a family, and our identity is not defined as individuals, but as a collective which makes a difference with our common sense of values. While we may not always agree with some of our family members, we understand the worth and impact of communicating a cohesive message to the community at large so that it hears our concerns. JET is the platform that can present our views to the greater community.

But the economic outlook for producing professional theater is bleak. The crushing economic reality of the metropolitan Detroit area is obvious – the fears some feel are justified – and it is natural to rein in any unnecessary expenditure in order to protect themselves and their family when they feel threatened.

Please reconsider…as you fill out your subscription order form, please make an additional donation to ensure that our culture and values continue to be showcased and passed on to future generations.

Without your support, JET’s voice falls silent.
