The Dybbuk For Two People
by Bruce Meyers and
Directed by:
Gillian Eaton
Ran December 1, 2004 - January 2, 2005 |

This adaptation by British actor-writer Bruce Meyers requires two
performers to enact multiple roles, creating an entire shtetl society
round two doomed lovers, Leah and Chanon. The Dybbuk is a gripping tale
of unrequited love that has inspired movies, operatic treatments and
ballets over the last seven decades. It is a virtuoso, gender-bending
turn, which will keep theatregoers on the edge of their seats and
imagining these characters long after the curtain goes down. Based on
the classic by S. Ansky written in Yiddish which was first produced by
the Vilna troupe in 1919 and a year later by the Moscow. Art Theatre and
subsequently it was translated into English and produced by other
theatres throughout the world. |
JET joins The Traveling Jewish Theatre and the Winnipeg Jewish theatre
in presenting this exciting version of this classic play.
